Russia and USA prepared intergovernmental agreement for cooperation in peaceful use of nuclear power

According to Rosatom press-center: "We note with satisfaction the completion of development of the bilateral Agreement between the government of the Russian Federation and the government of the United States of America for cooperation in peaceful use of nuclear power ", is stated in approved statement on the results of the meeting of the RF and USA presidents in Kennebunkport on July 1-2, 2007. Now the Parliaments of two countries should consider this Agreement and make a decision within 90 session days. After this it can be signed and put into force.

Rosatom head Sergey Kirienko told to "Russian News Service" that up to now Russia have delivered materials and equipment through intermediate party, third countries, which are. This is a complicated scheme for sell of materials and equipment. When this document put into force, these problems will be in the past.

Kirienko also noted: "Today Russia is the biggest supplier on the world market of nuclear fuel cycle and services. We wish to expand our presence on this market, so we need direct possibility to supply fuel, services on uranium enrichment, supply of fuel subassembly. This is a high-technological production, which Russia will be able to export. So it is very important for us to cooperate with USA. USA has the biggest market of nuclear fuel and services and the largest program of nuclear power development. In USA more 100 NPPs are operating now. So we need that these markets to be open.
