Severe frosts did not affect the stable operation of Russian nuclear power plants

AtomInfo.Ru, PUBLISHED 14.01.2024

Russian nuclear power plants, despite the abnormal cold that set in at the beginning of the new year 2024 in many regions of the country, continue to operate normally, ensuring stable energy security of the country.

This is reported by the Rosenergoatom website.

On the eve of the autumn-winter maximum loads at all Russian nuclear power plants, a lot of preparatory work was carried out in advance, including planned repairs of equipment, buildings, structures, technical inspections and other necessary organizational, technical and support measures.

As a result, even when the temperature, for example, in Chukotka, where the Bilibinsk NPP is located, fell below 40 degrees during the New Year holidays, all power units worked normally.
