Commersial operation of Fangchenggang-3 is now expected in first half of 2023

AtomInfo.Ru, PUBLISHED 24.12.2022

The commersial operation of Unit No. 3 of the Fangchenggang NPP (China) with the Hualong One reactor has been postponed until the first half of 2023.

Previously, it was assumed that the unit would be commissioned in the second half of 2022. The CGN corporation announced the postponement at the end of December, when it became clear that the previous schedule would definitely not be maintained.

The operational license for the unit was issued on November 25, 2022. Fuel loading into the core was completed on November 28, 2022.

The Fangchenggang-3 unit has been under construction since December 2015. The unit should become the head unit for the Hualong One units from CGN corporation.

Meanwhile, the corporation CNNC, which competes with the CGN, has already commissioned four units with Hualong One reactors - two in China (Fuqing-5/6) and two in Pakistan (Karachi-2/3).
