The Romanian government has approved a bill to support the construction of units No.3/4 of the Chernavoda NPP

AtomInfo.Ru, PUBLISHED 20.12.2022

The Romanian government, at the suggestion of the Ministry of Energy, approved on Monday a bill approving the signing of a support agreement between the Romanian state and the Nuclearelectrica company for the construction of units No. 3/4 of the Chernavoda NPP.

The bill will be submitted to the country's parliament for approval.

The text of the bill states that unit No. 3 should start working in 2030, and unit No. 4 - in 2031. After the commissioning of the units, the share of nuclear energy in Romania's energy balance will increase from 20% to 36%.

The Romanian State, through the Ministry of Finance, will take the necessary steps to finance the project, including, but not limited to, providing state guarantees to its investors.

In particular, the mechanism of contracts for difference may be used, in which the state will pay extra to the set price for electricity if the market price turns out to be lower than the set one.
