Fuel loading on the Vogtle-3 is scheduled for October 2022

Fuel loading into the reactor core of the Vogtle-3 unit with the AP-1000 reactor is scheduled for October 2022, Georgia Power reported.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued a permit to load fuel in August 2022.

The company also reported that in the first half of 2022, it spent more than $500 million on the construction of units No. 3/4 of the Vogtle NPP.

The total cost of the construction of the two units is known only according to unofficial estimates and exceeds $30 billion.

The construction of Vogtle-3 started on March 12, 2013. The electrical capacity of the unit is 1117 MWe. This is the first AP-1000 reactor unit in the USA. Previously, four units with such reactors were built and put into operation in China.
