442 nuclear units are operating in the world, 53 units are under construction

The current number of the operating nuclear power units in the world is equal to 442. These data are presented in the PRIS database supported by the IAEA.
Another 53 units have the status of the being built one.
Since the beginning of 2020, three units have been connected to the grid - "Tianwan-5" (China), "Barakah-1" (UAE) and "Leningrad-2-2" (Russia).
The construction was started on two new units - "Akkuyu-2" in Turkey and "Zhangzhou-2" in China.
Four units were permanently shutdown - "Fessenheim-1" and "Fessenheim-2" (both France) and "Indian Point-2" and "Duane Arnold-1" (both USA).
Minimum control power level is reached when neutron flux is recorded in a reactor working at a level sufficient to sustain a fission chain reaction.
