Russia Says No Secret Plans With Iran, Syria for Geneva Talks RIA Novosti, PUBLISHED 19.01.2014 Moscow has no secret plans with Iran and Syria for the upcoming Geneva-2 peace talks in Switzerland next week, Russia's foreign minister said Thursday. Sergei Lavrov held talks with his Iranian counterpart, Mohammad Javad Zarif, in Moscow on Thursday and is scheduled to meet with Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem on Friday. Iran’s participation in the 2012 conference was also a bone of contention between Washington and Moscow. Washington has opposed development of Iran’s nuclear program, claiming it could be used to build an atomic bomb.
