Taipingling-2 reactor reaches first criticality

The reactor of the Taipingling-2 unit has reached first criticality for the first time, China General Nuclear (CGN) has reported.

The unit is equipped with a Hualong One reactor with a thermal power of 3190 MWt. The unit's gross electrical output will be 1202 MWe, with a net output of 1116 MWe.

First concrete for the unit was poured in October 2020.
