Akkuyu Nuclear received a permit to begin the pre-commissioning stage works at Akkuyu NPP Unit 2 Akkuyu Nuclear, PUBLISHED 11.05.2026 The Council of the Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NDK) of the Republic of Turkiye has granted Akkuyu Nuclear a permit for the pre-commissioning stage works at Akkuyu NPP Unit 2 (under construction by Rosatom State Corporation). The application documents for the permit were submitted to the NDK in May 2025. As part of the application, Akkuyu Nuclear JSC submitted a set of documents with a detailed description of the commissioning stages of the Unit, related technological operations and the process of operational personnel training. The total amount of documentation exceeded 22 thousand pages. Following the review of the application, the Council of the Nuclear Regulatory Authority decided to issue a "Permit for Pre-Commissioning stage works at Akkuyu NPP Unit 2". The document establishes the procedure for interaction with NDK at the upcoming stage of start-up and adjustment works. All operations are subject to supervision and approval by the supervisory authority. "Obtaining the pre-commissioning permit confirms compliance with the requirements of the regulator regarding the preparation of supporting documentation and allows preparations to begin for pre-commissioning activities at Unit 2. In parallel with the construction works, the specialists will begin a consistent inspection and adjustment of the equipment." Akkuyu Nuclear JSC Chief Executive Officer Sergei Butckikh noted.
