During his visit to the NPP construction site, he inspected the progress of work at Unit 1 of the plant. Rosatom management delegation was accompanied at the NPP site by Akkuyu Nuclear JSC Chairperson of the Board of Directors Anton Dedusenko, the company's Chief Executive Officer Sergei Butckikh, and First Deputy CEO – Chief Technology Officer Andrey Zhukov. "We are moving toward this year's main goal – enabling the transition to startup and afterwards operational procedures at Unit 1 of the four-unit Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant. Preparations for a key event – hot and cold run-in with fuel dummies being loaded into the reactor – are nearing completion. Turkish companies are currently showing strong interest in joining the project. This is due to the opportunity to participate in power generation and profit distribution. We have started detailed discussions with several Turkish companies regarding the terms of their participation in the authorized capital – this is a serious and ambitious undertaking. We are extremely interested in having partners in Turkiye, not only during the construction stage, but also throughout the entire life cycle of the NPP which could reach 100 years," noted Alexey Likhachev. After visiting the main facilities of the first startup complex, the head of Rosatom held a working meeting on the construction of Akkuyu NPP with the management of Akkuyu Nuclear JSC and the project's main contractors. "Indeed, the most valuable asset of any project is its people – our employees, nationals of Russia and Turkiye. Preparations are currently underway for the accommodation of a nuclear workers' town for 8,000 residents. It incorporates best practices in housing, utilities, and social infrastructure: kindergartens, schools, and public spaces," Rosatom Director General noted.
