Hualong One achieves another milestone with the inner dome installation of Unit 3 at Zhangzhou Nuclear Power CNNC, PUBLISHED 09.03.2026 The inner dome of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC)'s Unit 3 at the Zhangzhou Nuclear Power Plant has been successfully installed recently. The project now moves from civil construction to the equipment installation phase, laying a solid foundation for commissioning and future grid connection. The inner dome installation is a major milestone in Hualong One construction. Located at the top of the nuclear island, it plays a critical role in ensuring the structural integrity and airtightness of the reactor building. Hualong One represents a flagship achievement in CNNC's drive for advanced technological self-reliance and the national dual carbon strategy. Meeting the highest international safety standards, each unit generates over 10 billion kWh of electricity annually - equivalent to reducing standard coal consumption by 3.12 million tons and CO2 emissions by 8.16 million tons - enough to power one million people for a year in a moderately developed country. The construction of Zhangzhou Nuclear Power's Phase I and II projects has mobilized nearly 6,000 enterprises to form a complete supply chain. More than 5,400 manufacturers have contributed over 60,000 sets of equipment, upgrading China's high-end equipment manufacturing capabilities. Beyond supporting energy transition, the large-scale deployment of Hualong One has become a strong driver of economic growth. Construction of the Phase I and II projects has boosted investment, industrial upgrading, related industries such as high-end equipment manufacturing, nuclear power construction, new material research and development, and technical services. It also supports job creation and fosters robust industrial clusters while providing lasting momentum for local fiscal revenue growth and industrial structure upgrading.
