Belarusian Specialists Learn from Balakovo NPPs Experience

Rosatom, PUBLISHED 11.05.2025

Specialists from the Technical Inspection Department of the Belarusian Nuclear Power Plant visited Balakovo NPP. The purpose of the visit was to study Russian experience in supervisory activities, particularly in organizing and maintaining records of supervised equipment and pipelines.

During the four-day working visit, representatives of the Belarusian NPP worked closely with the specialists of Balakovo NPP's Technical Inspection and Industrial Safety Department (TI&ISD). The range of topics of interest to the Belarusian colleagues had been outlined in advance and primarily concerned the organization of work for a Senior Inspector at TI&ISD.

"The goals we set for ourselves have been achieved by 110 percent. Interaction with colleagues from the Technical Inspection and Industrial Safety Department was extremely open. In addition, staff from the Fire Safety Department and the Inspection and Safety Assurance Department also shared their practices," said Andrey Ankushyev, Head of the Technical Inspection Department of the Belarusian NPP. "We received comprehensive information to enhance our activities. Everything we saw and learned will be adapted to fit our needs and legislation."

"My area of expertise is the technical inspection and registration of equipment and pipelines under the supervision of Gosatomnadzor. The experience of Balakovo NPP, which has not only gone through all the stages of commissioning and operational development but also life extension of power units, is extremely valuable for us. The methodologies used by Balakovo colleagues will significantly improve our work. This is truly valuable experience for us," shared Vladislav Khroyan, Senior Inspector for Supervised Equipment at the Technical Inspection Department of the Belarusian NPP.

During their visit, the Belarusian guests toured Unit 2 of Balakovo NPP, visiting the turbine hall and the unit control room. The delegation also visited the auxiliary systems workshop and the startup-reserve boiler house, which completed modernization two years ago.

The staff of Balakovo NPP's TI&ISD, in turn, noted the high level of professionalism demonstrated by their Belarusian colleagues in the field of supervision and highlighted the warm, friendly relations established during the visit.
