422 nuclear units are operating in the world, 56 units are under construction

The current number of the operating nuclear power units in the world is equal to 422. These data are presented in the PRIS database supported by the IAEA.

Another 56 units have the status of the being built one.

Since the beginning of 2023, one new unit has been connected to the grid - Mochovce-3 (Slovakia).

Two units were permanently shutdown - Tihange-2 (Belgium) and Kuosheng-2 (Taiwan, China).

On January 18, the vessel of the world's largest multipurpose fast neutron research reactor (MBIR) was installed in its designed position at the Research Institute of Atomic Reactors (RIAR) construction site in the city of Dimitrovgrad in Russia's Ulyanovsk region. RIAR is a part of ROSATOM's scientific division "Science and Innovation, JSC".
