CNNC holds Atoms for Future themed forum during CIIE

CNNC, PUBLISHED 08.11.2022

During the fifth China International Import Expo (CIIE), the China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) held its "Atoms for Future" themed forum at the National Exhibition and Convention Center (Shanghai) on Nov 6, and signed eight procurement contracts with its global partners.

Representatives from government agencies, embassies in China, nuclear organizations and enterprises at home and abroad attended the forum and gave key note speeches, gathering wisdom for innovative cooperation with mutual benefits and the joint promotion of the high-quality development of the global nuclear industry.

Experts at home and abroad held in-depth discussions on topics such as the future development of nuclear energy, the innovative application and expansion of nuclear technology, and the prospect of international cooperation in nuclear technology.

In addition, the "Zero-Carbon Future City" vision was presented at the forum, providing Chinese solutions and the CNNC's solutions for global energy supply and environmental protection. It was learned at the forum that the development plan for the Zero-Carbon Future City in Haiyan county, East China's Zhejiang province, had been approved by the Zhejiang Provincial Development and Reform Commission, signaling the unveiling of the plan for China's first zero-carbon high-quality development demonstration area. The Zero-Carbon Future City is a new industrial park that features the self-balance between carbon emissions and absorption, and a deep integration of production, ecology and life. Built on the comprehensive utilization of nuclear energy, it is the CNNC's implementation of China's carbon peaking and carbon neutrality development blueprint.

Relevant affiliates of the CNNC signed procurement contracts or agreements with Canada's Cameco Corporation and Candu Energy, France's Framatome, Kazatomprom - the National Atomic Company of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Russia's ROSATOM and America's Westinghouse Electric Company, totaling 572 million US dollars, further deepening international cooperation in the entire nuclear industry chain and sharing the achievements of nuclear development with the world.
