Bottom of a steel containment is installed at first Chinese SMR

AtomInfo.Ru, PUBLISHED 25.10.2021

The bottom of the steel containment is installed at China's first small modular reactor ACP-100 (Linglong One) under construction at the Changjiang site on Hainan Island.

The bottom was assembled from 50 steel plates. It was placed in its original position on a concrete foundation.

The ACP-100 steel containment consists of three parts - the bottom, the cylinder and the lid.

Construction of the ACP-100 small modular reactor started on July 13, 2021 and will take 58 months.

This critical analysis of the history, state, and prospects of development of modern nuclear technologies shows that nuclear energy market has practically monopolized the design and construction of only one type of reactors (95% of NPPs under construction use pressurized water reactors), which necessitates training of focused specialists involved in the construction and operation of those nuclear power plants.
