443 nuclear units are operating in the world, 52 units are under construction

The current number of the operating nuclear power units in the world is equal to 443. These data are presented in the PRIS database supported by the IAEA.

Another 52 units have the status of the being built one.

Since the beginning of 2020, five units have been connected to the grid - "Tianwan-5", "Fuqing-5" (both China), "Barakah-1" (UAE), "Leningrad-2-2" (Russia) and "Belarusian-1" (Belarus).

The construction was started on three new units - "Akkuyu-2" in Turkey and "Zhangzhou-2" and "Taipingling-2" (both China).

Five units were permanently shutdown - "Fessenheim-1", "Fessenheim-2" (both France), "Indian Point-2", "Duane Arnold-1" (both USA) and "Leningrad-2" (Russia).
