449 nuclear units are operating in the world, 54 units are under construction

The current number of the operating nuclear power units in the world is equal to 449. These data are presented in the PRIS database supported by the IAEA.

Another 54 units have the status of the being built one.

Since the beginning of 2019, four units have been connected to the grid - "Shin-Kori-4" in South Korea, "Novovoronezh-2-2" in Russia, "Taishan-2" and "Yangjiang-6" (both China).

The construction was started on three new units - "Kursk-2-2" in Russia, "Zhangzhou-1" in China and "Bushehr-2" in Iran.

Five units were permanently shutdown - "Bilibino-1" in Russia, "Genkai-2" in Japan. "Pilgrim-1" and TMI-1 in the USA and "Chinshan-2" in Taiwan.
