Paks-2 life time was extended for 20 years

The service life of the second unit of the Paks NPP has been extended for 20 years, until 31 December 2034.

This is reported by the Hungarian media, citing national body nuclear regulation.

The Paks NPP consists of four units with VVER-440 reactors with a capacity of 473 Mwe each except the first unit, whose power is equal to 470 MWe.

The design life of the Hungarian units is equal to 30 years. The first unit was extended for 20 years in 2012, the second - in 2014.

The third block will come to 30-year milestone in 2016, the fourth - in 2017.
