Emerging Economies to Increase Use of Nuclear Energy to Meet Power Demand – Report RIA Novosti, PUBLISHED 28.07.2014 Emerging countries will play a defining role in the global installed nuclear capacity expansion, driven by the demand for more and more power, GlobalData website says. “Nuclear power has the capacity to produce large amounts of electricity and therefore meet the growing demand for power,” Pranav Srivastava, GlobalData’s Associate Analyst covering Nuclear Power, said. According to Srivastava, under the influence of the disaster, Germany and Switzerland have plans to phase out nuclear power, while China, Japan, France and the UK have developed strong nuclear safety frameworks and performed stress tests on their existing nuclear reactors to ensure safe operations.
