China Achieves Milestone in Compact Fusion Project with Key Component Installation
The Burning Plasma Experimental Superconducting Tokamak (BEST), a compact fusion experiment device under construction in Hefei, east China Anhui Province, has reached a major milestone with the successful installation of its first key component, the Dewar base, marking progress toward the world first electricity generation from fusion power.
Fusion energy, often hailed as the ideal ultimate energy source, seeks to replicate the nuclear fusion process that powers the sun. Unlike previous fusion experimental devices, BEST is designed to demonstrate actual burning of deuterium-tritium plasma. Since the project full-scale assembly began in May this year, the facility has attracted significant public attention.

China sets new records in the research of new-generation artificial sun HL-3
Southwestern Institute of Physics, a subsidiary of China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC), has made a breakthrough in nuclear fusion research.
On March 28, the institute announced that its new- generation artificial sun HL-3 reached an atomic nucleus temperature of 117 million degrees Celsius and an electron temperature of 160 million degrees Celsius for the first time, and the comprehensive parameters of its fusion triple product rose significantly, marking the advancement of China fusion research into the combustion experiment stage.
The latest experiments with the HL-3 have set multiple national records and yielded groundbreaking, innovative and advanced results in fusion energy development.

Pietro Barabaschi visited Russian institutes
Pietro Barabaschi, Director-General of the ITER International Organization, reviewed the process of development and manufacturing of key Russian systems for the international thermonuclear reactor in St. Petersburg on October 9, within the framework of his official visit to the Russian Federation.
The first point of ITER Director-General visit was Efremov Scientific Research Institute of Electrophysical Apparatus (NIIEFA JSC, a ROSATOM enterprise).
Pietro Barabaschi held a meeting with the management of the Institute and saw around the facilities for high-tech components manufacturing of the future plant, in particular, the benches involved in the program of the first wall panels and diverter central assemblies manufacturing.
